TRESCKOW -- Hours before a man was charged with a stabbing in Hazleton, he was arraigned for a violent armed robbery earlier in the week.

Police say Amir Edwards, 22, and another man robbed the Tresckow Superfood Wednesday night.

People who live in that part of Carbon County still have questions about that case.

On the window of Tresckow Superfood, a yellow sign says it all:

"This Should Of Never Happened"

Inside the store, more signs about a fund at Wells Fargo are posted to help the owner known as "M.P." pay for medical bills.

"He's a very nice gentleman, a very good man."

Police said the store owner suffered serious head injuries after he was punched in the head and hit multiple times with an airsoft pistol when the place was robbed by two men just before 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Police said the robbers got away with $2,100.

"It's a hard business, these little convenience stores. [You] put a lot of long hours in. He worked hard," said David Babbish of Tresckow.

Along with charges for the deadly stabbing in Hazleton, Edwards was also arraigned on charges of robbery and aggravated assault for the hold up in Tresckow.

The Carbon County district attorney's office and state troopers said there's no update on the whereabouts of the second robber and that makes some people uneasy, including Rick Decosmo.

"It's a very quiet town. It's a very close town, a very good community. We really don't have issues like that over here," Decosmo said.

"It's a shame. It shouldn't happen. It was a nice quiet town. It's turning out not to be no more," said Tresckow resident Vincent Kasarda.

That store owner known as M.P. has been released from the hospital but is still recovering from serious injuries.
