WILKES-BARRE -- A ceremony Wednesday at the federal courthouse in Wilkes-Barre honored law enforcement who handled a shoot-out in the city nearly two years ago.
Nine people were honored for what they did during the crisis at Sherman Hills where an officer was shot and a fugitive from Philadelphia was killed in 2012.
Wilkes-Barre officer Matthew Stash received a Purple Heart award. The other honorees received the U.S. Marshal Service Medal of Honor.
