Wallenpaupack senior Julia Santo heads to the driving range at Woodloch Springs golf resort. She's there to work on her game and get ready for the next match. Santo plays in the top 5 for the Buckhorns against the boys so far this season Paupack with an (8-1) record and a Lackawanna League division title.

"It's going good this year. We didn't expect our team to really be at the top right now, but it's going pretty well and we're all having a good time and it's fun playing on the guy's team with all of them," said Julia Santo.

Head coach Bob Simons is in his 44th year of coaching at Wallenpaupack. He says Julia is a great teammate and a good competitor.

"Her main strength in golf is her driving and keeping the ball in play. She was struggling with her short game. In fact her putter a little bit, but she's been working very hard at it and the last couple matches. She's made an eagle at Scranton Muni and had quite a few key birdie putts. I think her game is coming around," said Bob Simons.

Julia spends about six days a week here at Woodloch Springs working on her short game, and it helped her to shoot a 77 in the Jackman tournament.

"Everything went pretty well. I played good for the most part. Some putts weren't falling and everyone else they're putts we're falling, but it's just the luck of the game I guess," again said Julia.

Paupack #1 golfer John Pillar, Jr. grew up with Julia. The day she took 2nd on the girl's side at the Jackman, he finished 10th for the boys. The game of golf helped forge a friendship.

"She's definitely a huge help. It's teamwork effort for everyone. Without each other it helps a lot with the younger guys. We play a huge role in helping everyone else and making the whole team better," said John Pillar,Jr.

Pre-districts start this week for Julia and the journey to defending her championship for 2013.
