SUGARLOAF TOWNSHIP -- “We are Penn State!”

At Penn State`s Hazleton campus, the students were getting great news, right at the start of a new school year.

The NCAA announced it is lifting some of the sanctions imposed against the school after the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal broke in 2011.

All athletic scholarships will be restored in the 2015-2016 school year and the NCAA is lifting the school`s ban on postseason games immediately, which means that the Nittany Lions could see a bowl game this year.

“Yes, yes, that`s my reaction, as you can see I`m really happy,” said freshman Elijah Pharon.

“It's kind of crazy to seem like we are going and I just can`t wait,” said freshman Kelsey Cancalosi. “I'm definitely getting tickets if we go to the bowl.”

“I think it`s great because we haven`t played one in a while,” said freshman Ryan Wolfe. “Penn State`s always been a good time, be good to see them in a bowl game this year.”

Students also say knowing they could get into a bowl game will make this season even more intense. The last time Penn State played in a bowl game was in January 2012, before the sanctions were imposed.

“It`s going to be a crazy playoff atmosphere, just like any NFL, professional football game. It`s crazy now but it`s going to be even crazier,” said junior Justin Blose.

Travel agent John Madden, owner of Travelworld in Scranton says having a bowl game back on the table will be huge for business.

“Penn State fans really travel well, believe me, if they put a bowl out there, it`s going to be full.”
