WILKES-BARRE -- Police said two areas were vandalized overnight in Wilkes-Barre.

Officials believe someone used a BB gun to shoot out two windows of The Times Leader's newspaper production facility along East Market Street Saturday morning.

City police also said someone shot out windows of a number of vehicles parked at the Best Western Genetti Hotel and Conference Center.

Officers said at least seven people reported having their windows shot out sometime overnight. Those reports came from vehicles parked at Genetti's which is also on East Market Street.

Some King's College students said the gun play is hitting a little too close to home.

"Especially since that's right outside of the King's campus, so it kind of makes us a little worried, especially to walk outside," said Erica Montinte. "Even the square is kind of scary to walk alone especially if you're a girl."

"You have to walk with someone else just to go down the street. It's scary and the fact that it's so close to where we live, it's like, that could have hurt anyone around it. It's terrifying," said Kim Zurinski.

So far police have not said if the incidents in Wilkes-Barre are related.
