WEST HAZLETON -- Police are looking for two men who they say are responsible for a home invasion in Luzerne County.

Authorities say the two men -- one described as tall and skinny the other short and thin -- broke into a home on Webster Avenue in West Hazleton.

Rosemarie Tomko, 69, lives there.

Police say, once inside, those two men beat up the woman.

"She said, very possibly, the taller thin one, she may have seen before in the area, but she's not sure. Like I said, she was very badly beaten up, very shaken," said West Hazleton Police Chief Brian Buglio.

West Hazleton police say those two men kicked in the door, went upstairs to find the woman, beat her up, and then left with $1,000 in cash and debit cards.

"Rose, that lady, is my friend. But I haven't seen her for a long time. She's very sick," said neighbor Xiomara Leizan.

One of the neighbors says she has recently seen a lot of activity at Tomko's house.

"I see two, three, four people and their car, go, come, go."

The neighbor also said she's sick of hearing about all of the home invasions and robberies in the Hazleton area.

"I stay in my house," she said.

As for the investigation, police say they don't think this case is connected to any other crime.

"We'll probably identify them in the next day or two, but right now we're in the preliminary stages," said Chief Buglio.

Anyone with information is asked to call the West Hazleton Police at 570-455-3733.
