BLOOMSBURG -- The Bloomsburg Fairgrounds are empty now, but in just over two weeks they will be filled with people. The 159th annual Bloomsburg Fair starts soon and organizers say this year will be bigger and better than ever.

The fair partnered with Toyota and is giving away a car to one lucky fair-goer.

"That's awesome. Yeah, that's great and hopefully it works out well for them," Steve Beyer said.

Fair organizers say there will be daily winners, and only those winners will be entered to win the new car on the last day of the fair. This year, there will also be some extra-large animals.

"We have elephants coming back instead of the big cats. We have a magician and there's a lot of free entertainment that's new this year," Paul Reichard said.

Speaking of entertainment, ZZ Top is scheduled to perform at the fair.

And who could forget about the food? Some new items this year include deep-fried buffalo chicken cheese balls and strawberry shortcake in a cone.

"Every year, whatever's new we usually give it one try to split it up amongst the family and decide whether it's a staple or not for the next year," Cindy Beyer said.

Tickets to the Bloomsburg Fair cost $8, but if you're interested in potentially winning some free tickets to the fair, you should friend Farmer Bloom on Facebook, tag him in your pictures of the Bloomsburg Fair, and you'll be entered to win some free tickets.

"It's getting expensive to attend, I know a lot of people who I'm sure would be interested in that," Cindy said.

There are also 44 new security cameras to help keep people safe. The fair's preview day is September 19, and admission is only $3. It officially opens on September 20.

An artist is working on a mural depicting the fair and the flooding that hit three years ago.
