BLOOMSBURG — DD’s Take-Outs just opened for the day and owner David Dick is already filling lunch orders. But take a look around–there are no seats inside this restaurant–it’s take out only.
“Fast-paced world these days, you’ve got people running here, running there with kids. You’ve got two person families that don’t want to make a meatloaf,” Dick said.
Dick says the restaurant’s concept is good food at a reasonable price where people can take it home and enjoy it. DD’s Take-Outs has been open for three weeks, along Old Berwick road in Bloomsburg and is already gaining a big following.
“The first two weeks I had people that were in here maybe 6,7 times in a two week period,” Dick said.
Vicky Hidlay of Espy is a frequent customer.
“The food is a good home-cooked meal as opposed to going to Burger King and getting something that’s not quite the quality and it’s reasonably priced,” Hidlay said.
“Even if you don’t want to cook dinner at night or you want a nice lunch and don’t want to be bothered, just call up, order, it’s here,” Sally Ickes said.
Dick says this building was damaged in 2011 in Tropical Storm Lee but he says he’s prepared if something similar ever happens again because all of his equipment is on wheels.
“We can hose it down, put floor drains in, clean it up and get back open,” Dick said.
DD’s Take-Outs prepares new meals everyday, you just have to check the restaurant’s Facebook page to see what’s on the menu. It is open everyday but Monday.
