HUGHESVILLE -- Three incoming Hughesville High School seniors had a productive summer. They built an outdoor classroom for students at Ashkar Elementary.

The project was part of a youth leadership program. The students got a grant to pay for it all.

Ashkar students appreciate the help.

"I think it makes you learn better, because you're getting fresh air and you're clearing your mind,” said Austin McKeon.

"I would have loved to be outside. I remember we used to try to get the teachers to take us but there's nowhere really to go. Now, the students at the school have someplace to go to be outside and learn,” said Benjamin Nesselrod.

Parents and a landscaper helped the high schoolers complete their project in Lycoming County.
