Searcher Finds Missing Elderly Woman

UPDATE 12:15 p.m.:  A searcher found the missing woman safe near the Susquehanna River, a few miles from her home.

HALLSTEAD — State police in part of Susquehanna County are looking for a 76-year-old woman who went missing sometime Tuesday afternoon.

Authorities said Shelby Colwell left her home at Howard Emerson Apartments on Lackawanna Avenue in Hallstead around 4:00 p.m.  She has not been seen since.

Colwell is 4’11” and has short white hair with blue eyes.  She suffers from dementia and uses a cane.   She was last seen wearing a red shirt with white and blue dragonfly designs.

Anyone with information on Colwell whereabouts is asked to call state police.

      K, yes they do . . . but it is a daunting task for a family member to do. Even if she had a 24/7 caregiver (and if she did, it is most likely a family member) these unfortunate incidents can happen. Thank God she is safe.
