HOMETOWN -- Police are looking for a man who they believe robbed one bank and tried to rob another.
According to police, a man went into Mauch Chunk Trust Bank on Claremont Avenue in Hometown with pantyhose on his face and demanded money around 2 p.m. Tuesday. He took off in a vehicle with the cash.
A witness got the license plate, which came back stolen. Officers said that vehicle was later involved in a hit and run in Hazleton.
About half an hour before the robbery in Schuylkill County, police believe the same man walked up to First National Community Bank on West Broad Street in Hazleton wearing a mask. He tried to get in, but the door was locked and the man took off.
Anyone with information on the crimes is asked to call police.
