STROUD TOWNSHIP -- 16 vehicles were damaged or destroyed by a fire that ripped through a Monroe County business early Friday morning.
Flames hit Jim Weiss Auto Body and Towning near East Stroudsburg around 4:00 a.m.
Weiss, the owner, said he was listening to the scanner when he heard there was a fire at his shop. A state police fire marshall is looking into whether something in that jeep on a tow truck outside could have sparked the fire.
Weiss said between the vehicles and equipment, he is looking at somewhere around half a million dollars in damage.
"I just watched it burn from one end to the other, and there was nothing I could do about it," said Weiss.
The auto body shop has been in operation for 25 years. Weiss plans to rebuild. He said his towing business is still up and running, and he is planning on renting a space as soon as feasable to keep his staff working.
