JENKINS TOWNSHIP -- PennDOT announced that crews plan to move a large crane that will affect traffic on Interstate 81 and Route 315 in Luzerne County Thursday evening.

Officials said the crane is moving on the ramp from Route 315 to Interstate 81 north beginning at 4 p.m.  Crews believe there will be major backups on Route 315 until 7 p.m.

PennDOT said rolling roadblocks on Interstate 81 will take place between 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.  as three flatbed trucks move down the crane.

Bridge work will continue on Route 315 on Thursday from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. and Friday from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.  During those hours, PennDOT says the road will be shut down four or five times for an hour.

JENKINS TOWNSHIP -- PennDOT plans to close Route 315 in the Pittston area of Luzerne County several times Wednesday and Thursday nights.

Due to a bridge replacement project on Interstate 81 over Route 315, workers plan to shut 315 four times each night between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m.  Each closure is expected to last approximately one hour.  PennDOT said both directions of Route 315 will be closed between Oak Street and Pittston Avenue.

This will impact drivers heading from the Pittston area to and from Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs, including for Thursday night's popular Party on the Patio at the casino.

PennDOT recommends drivers avoid this area. Officials do not think this will have much of an impact on Interstate 81 itself.

This is part of a $27 million project replacing and widening four bridges on Interstate 81. The entire project is expected to be finished in October 2017.
