MAHANOY CITY -- A child was injured by a train in Schuylkill County Wednesday afternoon.
According to officials, a 12-year-old girl was injured along West Railroad Street in Mahanoy City around 2:30 p.m.
"I was on my way to meet her and on my way up, I heard her screaming my name and I went up and I saw her there," said Derik Miller.
12-year-old Derick Miller of Mahanoy City said it was enough to make him cry.
He was meeting up with one of his best friends by the railroad tracks when he heard her yelling.
"I started crying and I was really sad," he said when he saw her sitting on the tracks, her foot injured.
Emergency officials said the 12-year-old girl was injured by a moving train, which Miller said did not stop.
"She loves the train. She watches them all the time," said Miller's mother Amy Richards about the victim.
Miller`s mother said she arrived home to find a firefighter with her son, who told her what happened.
"I truly don`t know how it feels. I know the little girl, she will be ok and her parents, just God bless them," said Richards.
There is no word on the condition of the child or what caused the accident.
