Elderly Woman Scammed By Fake Water Worker

WILKES-BARRE — Police in Wilkes-Barre say a man posing as a water worker took advantage of an elderly woman.

The victim told officers an older man knocked on her door Wednesday afternoon and said he was checking for dirty water.

She let him in, and after he left, she noticed jewelry stolen from a bedroom.

Wilkes-Barre police say they’re investigating similar incidents in the city.

Police described the man as 5’6″, 170 pounds, wearing a baseball cap white shirt, sunglasses, with a 2-way radio hanging from his neck. The victim stated the suspect had bad teeth.
