WILKES-BARRE -- The campus of King's College now reaches Public Square in Wilkes-Barre.
A new restaurant opened up Tuesday inside the former Ramada Inn, and there's more to come.
The final work is being completed inside King's on the Square before students start to move in next week.
A lot of people are excited about the foot traffic that will come with the dorms and classrooms in that old hotel.
The lobby inside 20 Public Square has changed quite a bit in downtown Wilkes-Barre. The former hotel is now home to classrooms and dorm mailboxes for King's College.
"I think it's really nice. I would like to go here. It seems friendly."
We found Karisa Yoli and Megan Burns of Liberty, New York as they were checking out the King's on the Square building and the new program it bring to King's College.
"The physician assistant (major), just looking at the college, because my sister went here."
The former Ramada Inn's Tiffany Room has been transformed into Zime Bistro. The focus is on feeding students who will live in the dorms upstairs but the bistro is also open to the public seven days a week.
"It's great to be a part of the community, as well as King's. We really hope to make new friends; we hope to be a good neighbor to other businesses down here as well," said Mary Wood of Sodexo Dining Services.
Zime is the second eatery to open on Public Square this year. People who walk and work downtown tell us they welcome new business.
"I don't know if it's the more the merrier, but if there's enough business to support it, if there's enough people walking around to support it, I think it would be very good," said Bob Maximowicz of Pringle.
King's College bought the building last year for $2.7 million and replaced all of the windows.
It's a far cry from what it looked like last year when this place was still the Ramada inn and WNEP's Trail of Treats stopped by.
King's College invested around $11 million into this building.
Officials say they're excited to welcome new students, new professors, and, hopefully, new business.
Classes start at King's Collee in two weeks.
