DANVILLE — A primary care aide* from Montour County has pleaded guilty to doing an abortion without a medical license.

Jennifer Whalen of Washingtonville entered the plea on Monday.

According to court papers, Whalen ordered abortion pills online from overseas in 2012 and gave them to a 16-year-old girl.

The girl took the pills and had a miscarriage.

Whalen was charged in 2013.

*9/8/14 — A previous version of this story mistakenly referred to Jennifer Whalen as a nurse. The story also included a graphic with the words “Registered Nurse Charged.” According to her attorney, Whalen is not a licensed nurse of any kind, but instead works as a primary care aide at a nursing home. Newswatch 16 regrets the error and apologizes for any confusion.
