CHESTNUTHILL TOWNSHIP -- State police in the Poconos are investigating an attempted child luring that reportedly happened last week and still, no one has been arrested for the crime.

Troopers said two men drove up to two children at the Birches development in Monroe County and asked them if they wanted a ride.

It was here in the Birches development in Chestnuthill Township that state police said an attempted child luring took place.

Troopers said on August 1st two men drove up to two children and asked them if they wanted a ride.

Now parents here say they are extremely concerned.

“It`s very scary being that I have a son, I never leave him out alone,” said parent Kevin Bilski. “I've always got my eye on him constantly but it's definitely scary knowing that there's people around trying to take kids.”

State police believe the men were in a blue or grey, possibly metallic colored four door sedan.

Laurel Lesnik is on the homeowners association.

She told Newswatch 16 she and her husband volunteer here at the pool and recreational center.

“My concern is whenever we're up at the pool and the kids are down here playing, when people do approach we try to make sure that they are a member of our community, we each have badges when we come here and go to the pool, we try to make sure they're a member of the community,” said Lesnik.

Silena Salyer said she's warned her children to be careful.

“To be in groups, I guess and just be aware of their surroundings so they`re not taken by surprise and I tell my kids to stay close to the house and be watching for one another,” said Salyer.

For these kids, they said they know what to do if a stranger approaches them.

“Run and make kind of a ruckus so then somebody acknowledges that you're there,” said Madelyn Nugent.

If anyone has information about this attempted luring, they are asked to call State Police Fern Ridge.
