KINGSTON -- The Kingston Police Department said a police dog who only recently retired has died.
Officers said Stinger, an eight-year-old Doberman, spent six years on the force, but grew sickly. Stinger was forced to retire when his handler, Kingston Police Sergeant Sam Blaski, learned the dog had two inoperable tumors.
Kingston Police announced that the dog had died Tuesday on their Facebook page.
The department had just honored Stinger with a retirement ceremony Monday night in Kingston.
