SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT -- The Little League World Series in Lycoming County is just two weeks away. This year, fans may notice a new building at the complex.

Newswatch 16 got a tour of the space cleared for ESPN.

Hawbaker Construction has just about wrapped up work at a site on the Little League World International Complex in South Williamsport. The site up on the hill next to Lamade Stadium is almost empty, but by game day it will be crowded with ESPN trucks.

"We've built this great ESPN compound to really get the ESPN production and give them a home here at the little league complex," said Brian McClintock, media relations director.

McClintock says Little League used money from a rights agreement with ESPN to pay for the $1.3 million project.

Mclintock says construction should be complete just in time. Soon the complex will be filled with Little League fans from around the world.

"They'll start rolling in, in about 10 days, so the World Series starts two weeks from tomorrow," said McClintock.

In years past, a portion behind Lamade Stadium was marked off for ESPN, now with the new building it means all of that space is now open to the public.

"There's probably 10 to 15 production trucks from ESPN. It really was a lot of space that they occupied down there," said McClintock.

"It's cluttered and everything. You won't have to climb over people because there are thousands of people here every day," said Patrick Gitschlag from Unityville

Gitschlag has been coming to Little League games since he was young. He says making more room for everyone to walk around will make a big difference.

"Scenery-wise it's a lot better. People are going to be able to sit on the hill. So, there is more to see, a little bit different angle," said Gitschlag.

Little League World Series games begin August 14 at the Little league World International Complex in South Williamsport.
