SUNBURY -- Sunbury City Council members named a new police chief at Monday's council meeting.

Council named Acting Police Chief Brad Hare as the new chief of police.

Earlier this month, Hare was involved in a police shooting.

Last week, the Northumberland County District Attorney ruled that shooting justified.

According to the District Attorney, Erick Trometter was wanted for assault. When he was confronted by Acting Chief Hare, authorities said Trometter pulled out a knife. Hare shot Trometter in the leg.
