WILKES-BARRE — Police believe thieves swiped huge pieces of steel from a construction site in Wilkes-Barre.
Officials said I-beams and other steel materials are missing from the Sidney Street Bridge project.
Contractors believe the metal was taken earlier this week in the north end of Wilkes-Barre.
Work to replace the deficient bridge was delayed last year due to funding issues, but construction started back up in the spring.
It is unclear how much the stolen steel was worth or if the theft will delay the Sidney Street Bridge project again in Wilkes-Barre.
