Update: Tree Took Out Utility Poles on Route 6

MESHOPPEN -- Police said a fallen tree is to blame for a wreck that closed Route 6 Monday night.

According to police, a large tree fell on some wires, causing a chain reaction that took out five utility poles. One of those poles then hit a truck.

The accident happened near Canal Street around 10:30 p.m. Monday.

Crews reopened the road around 11 a.m. Tuesday.
