SCRANTON -- Folks laced up their sneakers in Lackawanna County to run in memory of Frank Bonacci who was killed one year ago on Sunday.

The inaugural "Frankie's Voice Bandana 5k Run/Walk" kicked off at 9a.m. Sunday morning at Nay Aug Park in Scranton.

A lot of runners wore orange, Bonacci's favorite color, and about 500 people showed up for the fundraiser, some brought their four legged friends.

Organizers told Newswatch 16 how important it was for them to give back.

"Because the community, when he was missing, everybody came out to help us. We just are doing this to give back to our community in memory of Frankie," said Joyce Piccolino.

The proceeds from the race benefit community groups like Marley's Mission and the Children's Advocacy Center in Lackawanna County.
