Driver Destroys Hydrant in Scranton

SCRANTON -- A hit and run driver destroyed a fire hydrant in Lackawanna County.

The hydrant was hit around 1 a.m Thursday.

It was taken off of its base and sent about 15 feet down the road.

Skid marks were left on the roadway, along with a trail of parts from the vehicle.

Authorities said the vehicle was found, but have not said if they caught the driver.

    Scranton would have to pay someone to do that, which may require addtional taxes to cover the expenses for that worker. And, someone should be picking up the parts from the car and the car. But the parts were likely left there.
