SCRANTON -- A new program is aimed to help veterans and their spouses receive a higher education in Scranton.

R-VETS [Renewal-Veteran Education and Transition Services] is offered to local veterans and their spouses interested in taking their education further.

The free eight-week program is looking to sign up even more students this week at Marywood University in Lackawanna County.

R-VETS provides free school supplies for past and present military members and their spouse to ensure they have what they need to continue their education.

The entire R-VETS program runs on donations and volunteers in Scranton.

Newswatch 16’s Ryan Leckey was at Marywood University learning the details of the new program in Lackawanna County.
