HAWLEY -- Friends and neighbors came together to help a family that lost a child in an accidental shooting in Pike County two months ago.

Newswatch 16 stopped by the pasta dinner tonight in Wayne County for the Pederson family.

All the money raised from the event at the Hawley Ambulance building will help the family after 10-year-old Hunter Pederson was shot and killed back in May.

Pederson was a fifth grader in the Wallenpaupack Area School District. According to police, he was killed when the gun his uncle was showing him went off.

"It's great. You would never think the community here would come together like they did for me and my family, and it's just been unbelievable support. Friends, people we don't know, it's been unbelievable businesses, restaurants in the area helping us out so much to say thank you everybody," said Robert Pederson, Hunter's father.

The boy's uncle still faces charges for the shooting death.
