TAYLOR -- People pitched in Saturday at the Third Annual Gary Lukasiewicz Memorial Softball Tournament in Taylor.

Organizers said all ages were welcome and the cost for each team to participate was $100.

The money goes to the local Make-A-Wish chapter in memory of Lukasiewicz who lost his battle with cancer in May of 2012 at the age of 18.

Make-A-Wish grants wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions.

"To bring everybody together, to bring the community together, have everybody come out and have a good time - remember Gary and do it for a good cause," said Dean Barone, organizer.

Along with the tournament, there was a chinese auction and plenty of food at the tournament in Lackawanna County.

Organizers said the event continues on Sunday at Derenick's Field in Taylor.
