BARTONSVILLE -- A fundraiser was underway in Monroe County to help the family of a police officer who lost his battle with cancer on Monday.
Big Daddy's Barbecue in Bartonsville was giving 50% of sales Tuesday to the Torres family to help with medical and funeral expenses.
Officer Ruben Torres had been a member of the Stroud Area Regional Police Department for a number of years.
"When something happens and there's a tragedy in our community, we're there to help that. Therefore I hope we have a great turnout today and I hope everyone comes out to support officer Torres and his family," said Chastity Hamill, General Manager.
The fundraiser at Big Daddy's Barbecue ran through until 11:00p.m. Tuesday night in Bartonsville.
The event included a chinese auction, tricky tray raffle and live band in in Monroe County.
