Six People including Children Taken to Hospital after Deck Collapse

PENN FOREST TOWNSHIP — Authorities said six people which included young children, were taken to the hospital after a deck collapsed during a party outside of a home in Carbon County.

It happened in Penn Forest Township on Towamensing Trail just before 6 p.m. Tuesday.

When the deck collapsed, it flipped over and trapped several people underneath it.

Four people were transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital by helicopter and two more people were taken by ambulance.

    Always build so a structure cannot fall into itself. This is my own basic safety rule of thumb.
    The outer supports had to give way first for this to happen.Another rule is make them twice as
    strong as they need to be.Hope all recover from this tragedy.
