Big Crowds in Jim Thorpe for the Holiday Weekend

JIM THORPE — Traffic was slow along Route 209 on Saturday afternoon as people headed to Jim Thorpe this holiday weekend.

A special train ride was offered Saturday that took passengers from Mountain Top in Luzerne County to Jim Thorpe and back.

One family took advantage in order to give their son his first experience on a train.

“My son loves trains, like every kid. We had to take him on his first train ride and he had really good time. He was a very good boy,” said Paul Thomas of Mountain Top.

There were also food vendors set up in the pavilion area where people could cool off in the shade.
