Long time Mount Carmel football coach Joe "Jazz" Diminick died late Wednesday night at his home with his family by his side at the age of 86.  Diminick won many Eastern Conference championships in his 31 year career coaching the Red Tornadoes. His career record was 267-81-7 at Mt. Carmel.

His 1969 team is long remembered as one of the best teams in high-school football history finishing with an undefeated record by beating Valley View 47-6 to win the Eastern Conference title. "Jazz's" son Gary Diminick rushed for 2,100 yards that season with 38 touchdowns to lead the team. Current head football coach Carmen DeFrancesco was on that 1969 team with Henry Hynoski.
