JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP — People from all across the globe are joining together today in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease.

It’s part of “The Longest Day” event held every year on the first day of summer.

The longest day symbolizes the seemingly endless journey that so many with Alzheimer`s disease have to endure.

Folks at Every Body’s Yoga near Mount Cobb were doing their part with a yogathon to end Alzheimer`s.

“There isn’t anywhere near as much awareness of Alzheimer’s as there needs to be, and so we’re working to raise the money for a cure, for prevention, for treatment, for advocacy,” said Beatriz Mallory from Every Body’s Yoga.

Participants at “The Longest Day” events compete in about 16 hours of activities including running, knitting, and playing games in Lackawanna County.
