UNION TOWNSHIP -- A school district in Luzerne County will be missing a few teachers and staff in the fall.
The Northwest Area School Board voted Wednesday night to furlough four teachers and eliminate two staff positions.
About 215 fewer students attend class at the district in the Shickshinny area compared to five years ago.
Many now take courses online instead of going to class.
The Northwest Area School Board is also talking about raising property taxes. A vote on that is expected at the end of the month.
