SCRANTON — A man from Lackawanna County was sentenced to a year behind bars for threatening the president last summer.

Nicholas Savino from Clarks Summit pleaded guilty last year to the threat.

In August, secret service agents raided Savino’s apartment, after he sent a threatening email to the White House, days before the president’s visit to the area.

Under the terms of the plea, Savino must give up three firearms and approximately 11,000 rounds of ammunition seized by agents.

Savino must also serve two years on supervised release following his prison sentence and pay a $3,000 fine.
