MOOSIC -- PennDOT has come up with a solution to ease safety concerns over the closing of two bridges in part of Lackawanna County.
The bridge connecting Main Street in Moosic to Lonesome Road was supposed to close last week.
PennDOT postponed the closing because of concerns about emergency vehicles getting through since another county-owned bridge on Main Street is also closed.
On Monday, PennDOT announced that a temporary bridge will be placed over the existing Main Street Bridge and used by emergency vehicles if needed.
PennDOT expects the temporary bridge to be in place by the end of next month. The Lonesome Road bridge will remain open until the temporary Main Street bridge is in place.
