UPDATE: July 31 — Jerome Vantaggi pleaded guilty and was sentenced Wednesday to time served – 55 days – and will serve one year of supervised release.

SCRANTON — A man from Luzerne County faces charges for bringing a gun into the federal building in Scranton.

Investigators from the U.S. attorney’s office said Jerome Vantaggi, 58, of Pittston had a gun with him on June 5 when he tried to enter the William J. Nealon Federal Building in Scranton.

If convicted of the charge, Vantaggi could face up to one year in prison and a $100,000 fine.
