FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP -- Police are investigating the possible tampering of student medication in Columbia County.

Police said it happened last month at Southern Columbia Area High School near Catawissa.

According to officers, the medication of two students did not appear to be normal when the nurse gave it to them. Those drugs have been sent to a laboratory for analysis and the results have not yet come back.

On Monday, the school board announced the resignation of the secondary school nurse, however police have not singled out anyone as a suspect at this time.

Police said they have not received any reports of any students suffering ill effects or problems from this incident.

The superintendent said new medicine cabinets with new locks have been installed and security cameras are now pointed at the cabinets.
