EXETER — Teachers in the Wyoming Area School District finally have a new contract after the school board voted 7-1 to approve the deal in a special session Tuesday night.

According to the president of the teacher’s association, teachers have been working without a contract for four years.

The six-year contract will retroactively go into effect June of 2010 and will expire August 31, 2016.

Back in April, the board rejected an arbitrator’s ruling in favor of salary and healthcare demands made by the union.

In September, the teachers walked the picket line for 23 days.
