Councilman Facing Theft Charges

HONESDALE — State police said Harry DeVrieze, who owns Lakeland Stair and Millwork, promised to make a man custom countertops and took $4,500 as payment.

Police said DeVrieze never completed the work or ordered the materials for those countertops.

According to troopers, DeVrieze said the work would be completed in four weeks and when it wasn’t, he allegedly lied to the victim and said his wife was in the hospital.

State police said they are investigating the case instead of Honesdale police because DeVrieze is a member of Honesdale borough council.
