BENTON TOWNSHIP -- Dive and rescue teams  found the man who drowned Saturday in Deer Lake in Lackawanna County.

Police said the victim was Dwayne Ferguson of Baltimore, Maryland.

According to officials, Ferguson was visiting friends at the lake in Benton Township for a cookout, when he and a woman went out in a small boat and decided to take a swim around 6 p.m.

Police said a man who lives on the shore got in a boat and tried to rescue Ferguson, but was not able to reach him. However, they credit him with aiding in the recovery by showing dive teams the spot where the victim was last seen.

Ferguson's family members told police that the 32-year-old  was not a good swimmer.

Saturday night and Sunday morning recovery teams spent hours searching the lake which is as deep as 40 feet in some spots.

Ferguson's body was discovered just before 11 a.m. Sunday.
