LONG POND -- NASCAR fans have descended on the Poconos!

The Pocono 400 is just days away but folks are already at Pocono Raceway where the party has begun.

The RV`s are parked, the tents are up, and the party has started.

Campers said the real way to have a good time is in the infield.

“It`s just, you can have more fun. It`s more free to roam around. It`s more people to talk to, and they`re camping and doing the same thing we are. It`s great time,” said Justin Freeman from Long Island, NY, “and we got lobster, lobster is what it is!”

For most this is a four day vacation in the infield at Pocono Raceway, with campsites set up so well, it`s like a home away from home.

After coming to races for years, many said this has become a reunion of friends.

“We got these people over here that we met five or six years ago, we`re friends with them,” said Peter Caballo of Connecticut. “We`ve had these same spots every year so now we`re friends with everybody around us. It`s really fun to come down every year.”

“All the people around here, once it gets full it`s great. It`s an experience you can`t put words in, everybody is one big happy family,” said Joe Snyder of Lehighton.

While the party is expected to get bigger and better throughout the weekend, many said this is time to relax and enjoy their families.

“We all like spending time together, and it`s a great weekend away from the normal wear and tear of life,” said Kelly Nelson of New Paltz, NY. “The kids love, they do, they love it here, everybody`s really friendly.”

The Pocono 400 races off on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Pocono Raceway.
