MOUNT CARMEL -- The area of 4th and Hickory Streets in Mount Carmel is quiet now, but police say a man exposed himself on Monday night to three women there and on South Market Street.

"I think it's very degrading. It's kind of disgusting," Chelsea McGinley said.

"It's disturbing. I have young children," Kathy Balichik said.

Police describe the man as white and in his 20s. Cops say he is between 6'0" and 6'2" tall with a thin build. He is described as having spiked hair, wearing a hoodie and dark pants.

"It's pretty scary. You live in a small town. It's literally a mile by a square mile and you have to worry about men exposing themselves and women getting raped," Ashleyy Leaveck said.

Mt. Carmel police are also investigating a possible sexual assault that happened here last week. They said the incident is completely unrelated, but it still has women in this area feeling unsettled.

"It's really a shame and it's kind of scary at the same time. I grew up here my whole life and it's getting really bad," McGinley said.

"I don't really want to walk around anymore and my cousin lives a couple blocks that way. I can't go to his house because I'd leave his house at night. It's just not a safe environment anymore," Leaveck said.

"When you hear about people like that living here and walking around here, it leaves you feeling vulnerable," Balichik said.

If you have any information on the case of indecent exposure in Mount Carmel, you are asked to call police, or the Northumberland County Communications Center.
