At the American Legion in Swoyersville, members are watching the latest on the news of the release of Army Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl, who had been held captive by the Taliban for the last five years.

Some here are applauding the effort.

“We do what we have to do to bring them back,” said one member.

However, others feel the Obama administration gave up too much.

In exchange for Bergdahl`s release, the U.S. handed over five Taliban detainees from Guantanamo Bay to Qatar.

“Why is it five for one? One for one I could see maybe, I could do that, but not five for one,” said Bill Storz of Forty Fort. “You`re letting five terrorists out, doesn`t make sense.”

Some said Obama broke national protocol by not going to Congress first.

“The whole policy was to wait for Congress for 30 days and Obama didn`t do that. That`s wrong,” said Tom Skudalski of Swoyersville.

Still for those here who have served, they firmly believe that no man should be left behind.

“I think it was something that needed to be done. We want to bring our soldiers home. There is a controversy about it but it was definitely the right thing to do,” said Jack Perfetto, a Vietnam Veteran.

“As long as we got one of our American boys back that`s all that matters and I`m not worried about Taliban, I`m worried about our own guys,” said another member.
