SCRANTON -- A witness in a hearing for a former corrections officer accused of raping female inmates in Lackawanna County's prison was taken out in a stretcher late Wednesday afternoon.
The preliminary hearing at the Lackawanna County Courthouse is for Joe Black of Dickson City is accused of raping four female inmates and sexually assaulting three others at the prison.
Attorneys spent most of the afternoon arguing about the witness who kicked off the investigation into Black not being there to testify.
One former inmate at the Lackawanna County Prison did show up to testimony. She gave emotional testimony, saying Black raped her 10-12 times while she was behind bars.
The woman then collapsed after her testimony, suffering from an apparent seizure. She was taken to a hospital.
The hearing in Lackawanna County will continue at a later date.
