Two children from our area competed in the 2014 Scripps National Spelling Bee near Washington, DC.
Tushan Dargan, 9, is a fifth grader at Good Shepherd Academy in Kingston. He was eliminated after the third round on Wednesday.
Devina Singh, 13, is in eighth grade at North Schuylkill Junior/Senior High School in Ashland. She was eliminated during the third round Wednesday afternoon when she misspelled the word Jacobin, which is defined as a political extremist or radical.
