DANVILLE--People waved flags and wore their red, white and blue at the annual Memorial Day Parade in Danville.
Hundreds of people lined the parade route through downtown, including Rona Hummel of Danville and her four children.
"I think it's a great way to celebrate all of our veterans on Memorial Day and to honor them. Just to see the community and rally around that," Hummel said.
The annual parade had a special guest. 102-year-old World War Two veteran, Robert Hall served as the grand marshal.
"I'm thankful Danville invited me here for this," Hall said.
Before the parade, a wreath ceremony was held here at the Danville/Riverside Bridge to honor fallen sailors who were buried at sea.
"It means a great honor being able to serve in the military forces and to defend our country. Also it's a great honor to be here to pay tribute to those who have fallen before me," Raymond Tobias said.
More than 200 people gathered at Memorial Park in Danville for the annual Memorial Day Ceremony. Veterans laid wreaths to honor fallen heroes. The veterans say it means a lot to see such a large crowd at the ceremony.
"It's nice that the town comes out and supports the veterans," Tobias said.
"Real nice of them to show up," Hall said.
After the ceremony, state and local officials unveiled a sign designating Route 11 through Montour County as "Veterans Highway."
