WILKES-BARRE –Police were alerted to what appeared to be a pipe bomb on Wilkes University campus.
Officials said the “package” was approximately 2-inch PVC pipe that was painted black with fitted cap ends.
Authorities said the items was treated as potentially explosive and the Scranton bomb squad responded and removed the item to an area by the river in Luzerne County.
Police said the item was determined to contain brushes for blacktopping and nothing else in Wilkes-Barre.
