WEST BUFFALO TOWNSHIP — People gathered at a barn near Mifflinburg where a program was held to honor veterans Sunday morning.
A procession of nearly a 100 flags and a bagpiper honored the men and women who died defending their country.
The flags were then placed in the Hidden Valley Camping Resort’s field of honor.
Organizers said it’s important to take time this weekend to say thank you to those who died for this country.
“When I see the amount of people with flags, it’s overwhelming, I’ve never really thought it would take off like it did. It’s just a pride to say I’m part of the family here at hidden valley,” said Cindy Carpenter from Mount Carmel.
Balloons were released to dedicate the field of honor at the campgrounds during the ceremony leading up to memorial day in Union County.
