SCRANTON -- A Marine who was killed in action while protecting a comrade was honored on Saturday.

Marines and friends gathered at Cathedral Cemetery in Scranton to remember Lance Corporal James Reddington.

It was 47 years ago that the 19-year-old Marine was killed in Vietnam.

Some of his fellow fighters who were with him that day found his grave back in 1994.

Now, 20 years later, the crowd of people who come to remember the brave Marine from Scranton keeps growing.

"I come here at Christmas, I come here Veterans' Day, but Memorial Day is getting to be the biggest. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine there would be so many people here," said Lance Corporal Joe Silvestri.

Silvestri said when he was knocked out by a mortar near Da Nang during Vietnam, Jimmy Reddington was so upset that he charged across the field, firing at the enemy.

Reddington was killed by enemy gunfire.
